Pedersen Ryberg On Line Obituaries

American FlagYAMATE

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Junichi Yamate (known to loved ones and friends as “Jun”) at the age of 82 on May 29, 2018.

Jun was born and raised in Lodi, California where he attended Tokye High School. He relocated to Chicago as a young man where he met and married his wife of nearly 60 years, Florence, and together they raised their four children. Jun was also a veteran of the United States Army - proudly and honorably serving his country at home and abroad for several years.

Jun was the beloved husband of Florence (nee Podlinski), adored father of his four children Pamela, Rocky (Laura), Terence and Tamara (Anthony) and cherished grandfather to Van (deceased) and Quentin (Gina), Rachel, Douglas (Amanda), Amanda, Jason (Ashley), Amber, Anthony (Stephanie), James and Christine. Jun was also a loving great-grandfather to Nikki, Sophia, Tiffany, Max, Kendall, Liam, Alex and Lucas and great-great-grandfather to Adley.

Jun was also the beloved brother of Betty and was preceded in death by his father Ichiro, mother Sumiye, sister Jean, brother Bob and brothers-in-law Tony and Yosh.

Jun was admired and respected for his kind and gentle spirit, loyalty, quiet strength and the deep love he had for his family and friends. Jun enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving, supportive and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Jun will be profoundly missed, but he will continue to live on in our hearts and in the cherished memories we shared with him.

Visitation will be held at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary on Friday, June 1st from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, IL, family and friends are asked to please meet at the cemetery at 10:00 a.m.   For info 630-834-1133
