Lois C. Van Der MolenVAN DER MOLEN
Written by John Van Der Molen

I, with much sadness and a heavy heart, advise that my beautiful loving wife of 59 years, Lois Carol Fuller Van Der Molen passed away at 81 years of age, on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 1:43 p.m.  Lois put up a gallant fight against an unrelenting brutal chronic Parkinson's disease.  Lois offered all her suffering in the past 12 years to the poor soul's in Purgatory.  Lois was never about herself.  She was always about others.  She especially loved her six children, her fourteen grandchildren, her three great grandchildren,  her parents and siblings and her many friends.  Lois was so very much a family person.

I was so lucky to meet her for the first time at Immaculate Conception High School in our Junior year in the fall of 1953.  That first date for the Homecoming dance turned out to be the most significant event in my life.  At the end of our Senior year in 1955, Lois wrote a beautiful love letter to me.  There is a song by Dean Martin..."you are nobody until somebody loves you".  Well that was the day that I became somebody!

Lois went on to St. Xavier University to earn an RN degree and interned at Mercy Hospital.  Lois endeavored in surgery.  She loved working with doctors in various hospitals.
I went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois.

We were married in the Immaculate Conception Church on August 29, 1959.  We had very little material wealth but we had huge potential.  We had a wonderful married life filled with love and goodness.  I forever thank the Lord that I met such a loving person and that I was able to have her hand in marriage.

Visitation for Lois will be on Monday, August 6, 2018  from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Pedersen Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst, IL.  Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 beginning with prayers at the Pedersen Ryberg Mortuary at 10:15 a.m. and proceeding to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 134 Arthur St., Elmhurst, IL  for a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL
