Charles Terrance “Terry” O’Brien passed away January 11, 2017, in Florida following a brief illness. Terry was born on December 12, 1945, in Chicago to his parents, Charles “Chuck” and Mary “Mae” O’Brien.
Terry graduated from St. Francis High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked many years in the electronics field for Motorola, selling some of the first semi-conductors that went into the earliest personal computers and cell phones. He was a tireless inventor and consummate salesman, having secured a patent for his design of a home-based medication alert and tracking system. He was a jack of all trades around the house and never tired of sharing his knowledge with is daughters, frequently advocating the benefits of bungee cords and duct tape. He was a devoted Notre Dame and Hawks fan.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bunny” O’Brien; his daughters, Amy (Rob) Brenner, Cindy Harris and Laura (Gary) Rempert; his stepdaughters, Donna (Jim) Harvey and Christy Denny; his grandchildren, Kelly Brenner, Erica Brenner and Lucien Harris; his step grandchildren, Jim Harvey, Taylor Harvey, Katie Denney and Scotty Denney; and his nieces and nephews, Moira (Phil) DeLuca, Bill (Erin) O’Brien and Brigid (Matt) Obrzut; and former spouse, Patricia O’Brien. Preceding Terry in death are his parents and his brother Richard “Dick” O’Brien.
Terry will be memorialized at a reception on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 9:45 AM at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst with a Funeral Mass following at 10:45 AM. He will be interred at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside near his Brother and parents. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Terry’s life. For info 630-834-1133
