George A. Kujawa, age 90, of Oak Brook, IL, Veteran WWII, US. Navy Seabees, served his country in the Pacific Theatre, working on the airstrip in which the Enola Gay left to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Loving Husband of Dorothy Hartwig Kujawa (nee Zak); Dear Father of Robert Kujawa, Julie (Anton) Then, Philip (Joanne) Hartwig and Susan (Donald) Rancic. Cherished Grandfather of Michael Hartwig, Geoffrey Hartwig, Katelyn (James) Mellone and Kristen Kujawa; Honored Great Grandfather of Maddux Hartwig and Lucas Mellone; Brother of Henrietta Venables, and James Kujawa and preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters. George was a 71 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. McDonald # 1911 and member of the American Legion T.H.B. No. 187. Visitation at the Pedersen Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst, on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, beginning with prayers at the mortuary at 8:30 a.m. and proceeding to Visitation Catholic Church, Elmhurst, Funeral Mass 9:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow at the Interment Chapel of Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
